Let's face it - we all saw this coming. In the least surprising news of the day, Vox has announced that it's closing up shop as of the end of the month.
Fortunately I've had a contingency plan in the works for a while (read:
about a year) now. I've already been backing up my blog periodically
through Wordpress because I wasn't confident that Vox would give us even
a month's warning. My ultimate goal is to migrate four and a half
years of gibberish and fart jokes onto a private domain. But for the
time being, I'll be setting up shop at http://absolutehotrod.typepad.com/.
It's easy, and it means I don't have to deal with transferring all the
picture and songs and videos I've posted to another host just yet.
I'll be honest - I'm going to miss Vox. It was extremely handy to
have a one-stop-link for my friends and some people I didn't know who
later became friends. One link is easy to manage; a bunch of different
links to blogs can get lost in the shuffle. I'm secretly a big softie,
so I sincerely hope the past four-plus years have meant as much to you
as they have to me and that you will still find the time to visit me
occasionally. I'll be at typepad for now, and I'll let you know wherever I end up from there. This will be my last post on Vox, and it makes me sad.
